It’s quite popular mainly because of two reasons, the number one being health reasons and the number two being self-confidence. You will be advised to go on a diet if your health is in danger, on the other hand people tend to go on a diet because they want to have a nice shape which no doubt helps to boost self-confidence.

Research shows that many will jump from one dieting programme to another during their lifetime to find the right answers to their dieting problems. Dieting has become extremely popular, especially with the internet and quite a number of them seems to be attractive because they have a little Edge over the usual boring diet advice that claims to produce fantastic results. This is the main thing that makes lots of dieting programmes online downright dangerous, most of them promise quick results which is completely false.

There are some types of dieting whereby you cut out certain food or a particular group of food, but the type of diet I’m talking about here is more restrictive. An example would be you’re allowed to eat a certain type of food from a food group, in other words you can only have bananas and no other types of fruit. It could be that you’re told to eat certain types of food on certain days, an example would be that you eat vegetables today, just vegetables and then tomorrow you eat another type of food.

This type of diet will not allow you to combine, for example, meat and vegetables in a meal. Many will agree that this type of diet is quite hard and difficult to stick to. I mean it’s not impossible, but imagine enrolling in a diet programme and this is the kind of programme you have to join; most people will probably give up within a few days. One of the most difficult things when it comes to dieting is to tell people not to eat the food they love dearly. The major problem with this type of dieting is when the cravings for food you’re not allowed to eat kicks in, it’s going to be extremely difficult to control. Once it gets out of control you are going to break all boundaries and starting all over again will become overwhelming. This is one of the major reasons people quit within a few days while others last few weeks.

The best form of diet is to have various options. The general rule is to eat from different types of food from different groups, this helps to destroy the cravings. There are cases where doctors or dietitians might recommend certain food for dieting or food rotation, you could start with a particular food, but then other types of food will be gradually added to your dieting programmes. This kind of programme is mostly applied when you’re being supervised in order to identify particular food allergies.
